Responsibilities

Overview

We're looking for a passionate and energetic racquets professional to help lead lessons, manage daily club operations, and support exciting events like tournaments, junior camps, and mixers. You'll work closely with the Head Pro and Director to deliver top-tier instruction, coordinate programs, and create a welcoming, high-energy environment for players of all ages, that keep members coming back year after year.

 

Mission Statement

Racquets Department - The mission of the Racquets Operation is to offer a comprehensive program that is responsive to the needs of the membership, including a consistent level of service that meets or exceeds expectations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Teaching / Instructional Program
    • Teach engaging lessons, clinics, and team practice sessions for both members and children
    • Collaborate with the Head Racquets Professional to plan, execute, and manage all instructional programs, lesson plans, and new programs including: Junior Racquets Program, “Intra-Club” League Program, Summer Racquets Camp program, Junior Development Instructional Program 
    • Ensure accurate completion of member charges and payment for all junior program lessons, intra-club leagues, special events, tournaments and social events
    • Oversee hiring and coordination of part-time instructors for the Summer Racquets Camp Program 
    • Collaborate with the director to plan a Junior Racquets Calendar of events each year

 

  • Events & Programs 
    • Assist with running member tournaments, mixers, and other special events
    • Assist members in finding the perfect team for league play, ensuring they’re matched with the right group to enhance their experience and foster lasting connections
    • Notify the Director of any member inquiries regarding league teams or interest in joining a new team
    • Observe members during league play to offer tailored feedback and guidance in team practices and clinics

 

  • Operations 
    • Act as the “Manager on Duty” in overseeing all work performed by part-time employees
    • Prepare all material for the club Newsletter and monthly update of the club website
    • Assist with staffing the Pro Shop Front Desk and Racquets Pavilion when necessary.
    • Assist with managing and executing opening facilities each morning (court prep, bathroom maintenance and stocking, pavilion, patio, and walkway checks, garbage disposal, etc.)

 

 

Qualifications

What You Need for this Position

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in sports science, physical education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of tennis playing experience; coaching or teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Certification from USPTA, PTR, or equivalent (or willingness to obtain) is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse age groups.
  • Physically able to demonstrate techniques and participate in drills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work on tennis courts, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on lesson and event demands.
