Responsibilities

Overview

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Tennis Instructor to help lead our growing tennis programs. In this role, you'll work closely with our Head Tennis Instructor to provide top-notch lessons, clinics, and camps while fostering a fun and supportive environment that helps players of all ages improve and enjoy the sport. Whether you're helping beginners get started or assisting advanced players in fine-tuning their techniques, your contributions will make a lasting impact on our members. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist in planning and conducting tennis lessons, clinics, and camps for beginners, intermediates, and advanced players, under the direction of the Head Pro.
  • Demonstrate proper tennis techniques, including serving, volleying, groundstrokes, and footwork, while providing constructive feedback to participants.
  • Help manage group dynamics during lessons, ensuring all participants receive attention and opportunities to practice.
  • Set up and maintain courts, including equipment like nets, balls, and cones, before and after sessions.
  • Observe and evaluate players’ progress, offering tailored input on skill development and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in promoting tennis programs through engagement with members, distributing flyers, or supporting social media efforts.
  • Support the organization and execution of tournaments, social events, or inter-club matches.
  • Ensure a safe environment by enforcing facility rules, monitoring player behavior, and addressing minor injuries or emergencies as needed.
  • Help with scheduling lessons, tracking attendance, and maintaining records of player progress.
  • Work closely with other instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and professional tennis program.

 

 

Qualifications

What You Need for this Position

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in sports science, physical education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of tennis playing experience; coaching or teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Certification from USPTA, PTR, or equivalent (or willingness to obtain) is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse age groups.
  • Physically able to demonstrate techniques and participate in drills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work on tennis courts, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on lesson and event demands.
